We asked our Geek Overdrive male friends to list their top 5 actresses with their own criteria combining hotness, geekness, cult status/potential and acting ability. Based on these results, our geek fellows’ hormones were raging wild. The age profile of our sample geek population ranged from ages 18-40 and a ranked weighted average was used to tally up the points to make up our Top 10 list.
1. Natalie Portman (Star Wars, V for Vendetta, The Professional, Black Swan) – Our Padme Harvard beauty and brains ranked far ahead of the list. A true geek at heart. If you haven’t already, enjoy watching youtube compilation videos of her cries and laughs.
2. Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, The Fountain) – This Cambridge beauty has come a long way from Chain Reaction, opposite Keanu Reeves. Theatre, indie films, blockbusters, she’s done them all.
3. Marion Cotillard & Audrey Tatou (French chics in Inception, La Vie en Rose; Amelie, The Da Vinci Code) – Geeks dig foreign films, especially pensive French girls. These two were often ranked hand in hand (Please, no offense that they are combined).
4. Famke Jannsen (Goldeneye, X-Men movies) – Bondgirl turned Dr. Jean Grey turned Phoenix. She majored in Literature at Columbia, who knew?
5. Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2, Lost in Translation, Matchpoint) – Woody Allen muse and Black Widow. Give credit to Sofia Coppola for jumpstarting her career and exciting geek men worldwide.
6. Salma Hayek (Desperado, From Dusk til Dawn) – Although she hasn’t made a recent scifi/fantasy flick, geeks clearly remember her love scene opposite Antonio Banderas.
7. (Tied) Mila Kunis (Black Swan, That 70s Show) – Ukrainian babe who loved playing WoW, fulfilling geeks’ fantasies that hot girls do play.
7. (Tied) Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Ghostbusters, Avatar) – iconic Ellen Ripley makes the list amongst geek hot chics.
7. (Tied) Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings, Incredible Hulk) – geeks like her Elvish speak, but they probably just remember her from the old Aerosmith video playing around with Alicia Silverstone.
10. Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four, Sin City) – Our geek friends admit they just like her because she’s hot. She’s a geek magnet.
